Stephanie
Wilcott
RMT |
Stephanie graduated from the West
Coast College of Massage Therapy in 2001 and has been in practice
for 10 years. She is a member of the Massage Therapy association of
B.C. Over the years, a keen interest has propelled Stephanie to take
several additional courses in perinatal massage. She helps clients
relieve the various aches and pains that may accompany each trimester.
Some common complaints are: SI joint pain, calf cramps, back pain,
swelling of extremities, diastasis recti and healing from caesarian
birth. Stephanie is also a certified pre and post-natal exercise instructor
and feels that exercise is not only essential to a healthy pregnancy,
but also to a good delivery and speedy recovery. Although massage
therapy can treat a multitude of conditions, Stephanie has had most
success treating tension headaches, whiplash, carpal tunnel syndrome,
tendonitis and low back pain. Stephanie has also found that treating
chronic conditions such as; diabetes, arthritis, MS and osteoporosis,
can provide symptomatic relief and may slow the progression of the
disease. Stephanie is committed to offering her patients evidence-based
massage therapy techniques specifically tailored to that individual,
along with homecare instruction and patient education. Stephanie strongly
believes that maintenance and prevention are key to providing quality
health care and she strives to achieve this with each patient.
At home, Stephanie enjoys spending time with her husband and two young
boys. They recently got involved with cycling, and tending to their
new vegetable garden has become a passion.

Leslie
Deacon
RMT |
Leslie’s interest in human anatomy
was sparked in 2000, while studying Visual Arts at the University
of Victoria.
Her studio classes entailed drawing live models and this made her
curious about the science behind movement.
In 2008, Leslie earned her Massage Therapy Diploma and began work
at Lynn Valley Massage Therapy. She enjoys treating a variety of conditions,
but has a particular interest in working with expectant and new mom’s.
A mother herself, Leslie understands the changes that occur during
pregnancy, and the issues that often arise with these changes. This
allows her to work intimately with pregnant women, positioning them
comfortably to target key areas of concern.
Leslie believes it is important for everyone to be proactive about
their health. She takes time to discuss remedial exercise, and preventative
measures. She works closely with all her clients to assure they feel
comfortable in her care.

the contributing factors.
Tina likes to balance her work life with hiking, snowshoeing, meditation,

Diana
Maurik
RMT |
Born and raised on the North Shore,
Diana has worked as an RMT in the Sea to Sky corridor for the past
12 years. Squamish is now where she calls home.
Diana grew up at the base of the North Shore mountains and spent her
younger years ski racing, riding horses, mountain biking and ocean
kayaking. After completing her education with a diploma in Outdoor
Recreation Management and a diploma in Massage Therapy, she moved
to Whistler. It was there that her love for telemark skiing began
and her hard work and determination gained her a position on the Canadian
National Telemark Ski Team. For four years Diana followed the World
Cup racing circuit and the U.S Telemark Free skiing circuit, successfully
meeting her athletic goals in both disciplines.
Diana’s first career began as a commercial fisher on her father’s
salmon troller in the Queen Charlotte Islands. This unique work opportunity
taught Diana the benefits of massage therapy to help relieve the aches
and pains of physical labor.
Continuing education with massage therapy has allowed Diana to integrate
her treatment style. Some of these techniques include: myo-facial
and neuro-muscual therapy, sport massage, and deep relaxation techniques.
Recently Diana has taken courses to deepen her knowledge in fascial
holding patterns in body postures. Through various fascial techniques,
exercise and stretches she works to balance the spine, pelvis, and
limbs creating better alignment and increased range of motion.
With recent certification in Equine massage Diana has enjoyed the
opportunity to work on horses, and possibly in the future with dogs
as well.
Experience in the field of Massage Therapy and in her athletic and
professional career, has allowed Diana to gain insight into body awareness,
and personal growth. It is through massage therapy that Diana enjoys
facilitating achievement of her clients’ goals and potentials through
body awareness and relaxation which in turn promotes optimal wellness.

Amy
Newell
RMT |
Amy has been practicing since 2002
and opened Lynn Valley Massage Therapy in 2007. Her intention is that
the clinic be a warm, welcoming place for the community to come and
allow her and her team to assist in their healing, maintenance and
well being. She envisions a place where clients feel free to try out
and see as many therapists as they want, without feeling pressured
by any one to see them exclusively. She is pleased to have found a
team so like-minded and client focused which results in the entire
team being dedicated to the comfort and need of individual clients.
She believes this aspect of the team's attitude has been one of the
many strengths that has lead to the clinic's great success. Of course
the wonderfully loyal clients who continually show their trust in
the clinic, by referring friends, family and co-workers have helped
with this success and all the therapists are incredibly grateful for
this.
